Historical Precedents:
I remember seeing a meme that said, “I love being Black or Brown; it’s dangerous, but I love it.” I agree. We love our melanin skin, our hair, ethnicity, culture, and heritage, even while living within systemic racism. Racism was introduced when European immigrants arrived in America, bringing disease, hatred, and greed. The colonizers eventually formed a government and established systems designed to oppress Black and Brown people. America was built on the backs of Black people, enriching those colonizers. Even when Black communities built thriving neighborhoods—such as the Greenwood District in Tulsa—they were targeted. The Tulsa Race Massacre was a two-day wave of violence between May 31 and June 1, 1921, that destroyed the entire community. On May 13, 1985, a similar tragedy occurred when the Philadelphia Police Department dropped a bomb from a helicopter onto a Black residential row house in West Philadelphia, starting a huge fire that killed 11 people. There is a long history of taking from Black people and destroying what they build, including Seneca Village, a prominent African American-owned community. The New York City government used eminent domain—seizing private land for public use—just to build Central Park. Similar displacement and land loss continue today. Did you know that white supremacists didn’t even originate the attire associated with the KKK? The pointed hoods actually trace back to a distinct historical connection with North African Moorish heritage. As the saying goes, racism seems to be the one system they created that they refuse to acknowledge.
The Hypocrisy of Prejudice:
To be so ignorant that you act with cruel intentions against another human due to the color of our skin?
A note to those who harbor racial prejudice: if you are going to hold onto racist beliefs, then stop benefiting from Black innovation and creation. Black inventors have changed the world, pioneering essential technologies across transportation, medicine, telecommunications, and daily life.
Imagine a world without Black brilliance—impossible. From life-saving medical breakthroughs to the tech we use every day, Black inventors have powered progress in every direction. Dive into the groundbreaking Black inventions below and learn just how deeply they shape our lives.

Legacy & Belonging:
Beyond that, we must address the hypocrisy of vacationing in and buying property across Black and Brown nations while telling people of color to “go back to where you came from.” We take immense pride in our melanin skin, our rich cultures, and the lands of our ancestors. We bring vibrant energy, creativity, and enduring strength to the world. Before claiming that Black and Brown individuals do not belong here, remember that this land was stolen from Indigenous people and built by the sacrifice and labor of our ancestors. Our presence, our heritage, and our contributions are permanent, vital, and here to stay.
